What are Quality Audits? Type of Quality Audits? Quality Auditing is defined as an on-site verification of ongoing activities performed by employees or working people, such as inspection or examination of a process or Quality Management system, to ensure compliance with requirements.
The Quality Audit can apply everywhere, to an entire organization, or might be specific to a function, Process, Product, or any Production steps. Quality Audits have a special administration purpose, Such as auditing documents, Risk Audits, Performance Audits, or follow-up on completed corrective actions.
There are three types of Quality Audits:
As per ISO 19011:2008: An Audits as a "Systematic, Independent and documented purposes for obtaining audit evidence (for records, statement of facts or other information which are relevant and verifiable) and evaluating it objectively to determine the extent to which audit criteria are fulfilled."
Three types of Quality Audits are:
- Process Audits: This type of audit verified that the processes are working within the specification limit. Process Audits evaluate an operation or method against predetermined instruction or standards to measure conformance to these standards and the effectiveness of the instruction. Examples of product audit: 1. Check conformance to defined requirements such as time, accuracy, temperature, composition, responsiveness, etc. 2. Examine the resource: (Equipment, Material, people), etc.
- Product Audits: This type of audit is an example of particular products or services, Such as hardware, processed material, or software to evaluate whether it conforms to requirements. Examples of Product audits are Specifications, Performance Standards, and Customer Requirements.
- System Audits: This type of audit is conducted on a management system. It can be described as a documented activity performed to verify, by examination and evaluation of objective evidence, That applicable elements of the system are appropriate and effective and have been developed, documented, and implemented in accordance and in conjunction with specified requirements. Examples of System audits are Existing Quality Management system audits, Environment audits, Food safety audits, and safety system audits.
